remember: if you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to eat at a restaurant.
no.
absolutely.
being unable to afford to tip is not the same as opting not to tip and i’m not going to be mad if somebody wants to eat out but literally cannot splurge any more than they already are just to cover the bill
The tip is part of the bill. The only instances in which it is optional is when you’ve informed your waiter that you aren’t able to tip them, or when their service is subpar. Otherwise, don’t eat out.
announcing that you can’t tip is a good way to ensure that you’ll receive subpar service so i doubt anybody wants to do that. i agree it’s common courtesy to leave a tip and i think people should tip their servers as often as possible, always if possible, but im not going to say absolutely that if someone is of lesser means and they want to sit down and eat a meal in a restaurant, if they aren’t in the financial standing to pay an additional 15%, they need to take their asses home or hit a drive thru or something. this is like two degrees away from saying “you can’t eat there because you’re poor”
thank you.
